  1. The Special Forces is a Special unit in the US Army

    The Navy Seals: US Navy

    Pararescue: US Air Force

    Recon: US Marine Corps

  2. Yes we are

  3. Special Forces are more of a specialty within each branch, not limited to any branch (like Army) or branch within itself.

  4. WTF?

  5. Sabrina and Tempting, nice try but WRONG!

Special Forces Teams are among the most specialized combat forces in the Army. They experience rigorous mental and physical training in order to carry out their missions in a quick and extremely effective manner.

Special Forces Soldiers in the Army conduct offensive raids, demolitions, intelligence, search and rescue and other missions from air, land or sea.

And while the President is the Commander in Chief of the US Military, the SF are not directly under his command.

Police Departments have Tactical Units which many of the officers are former Special Forces.

  6. special forces are a branch of the military like the marines but the president is in Majorr control of them

  7. Special Forces are Army.

Do you live in Denver? 10th Special Forces Group (based at Fort Carson, Colorado) were training with the 160th SOAR in downtown Denver a couple of months ago as part of a homeland security/urban training mission.

People who have responded to this are getting Special Forces mixed up with Special Operations. Special Operations include everyone: Army Special Forces, Rangers, 160th SOAR, Navy SEALs, Air Force Pararescue, etc.

    -Army Officer

  8. each military branch has a special forces.  the army has green berets, the navy has seals, the marines has recon,  the air force has special tactics.

  9. There is some confusion in the media..... they like to use the label "special forces" and apply it to troops from several different Special Operations Units ( SEALS, Force Recon, Delta, etc)

At the same time there is an Army unit called "Special Forces" (note the capitalization) ......the casual use of the label special forces for everybody causes some confusion

ALL of these specialized units are "Special Operation Units"..... Each has a distinct mission and unique abilities..... each should be respected and referred to by their official name.... or the generic Special Operations Units ( SpecOps )..... There is ONLY one "Special Forces" (Green Beret) and it is in the US Army

  10. Special Forces are part of the Army.

That is to say, the Army's Special Operations Forces are called "Special Forces."  Many people use the term "Special Forces

broadly, even if they mean Force Recon, Seals, etc.
