Is the upcoming 2009 Acura TL type S considered a luxury car?

Acura, and the auto industry in general has recognized that the TL, whether the base model or the Type S, is rightly classified as an 'entry level' luxury sport sedan.  

The TL is positioned to compete up against cars such as the G35, the 5 Series BMW (525, 528, 530 models), the CTS, and a handful of others.  The pricepoint of the TL insures it's not a true luxury model.  

There's still much speculation re the soon-to-be-released TL, but it will likely follow in the footsteps of its predicessors re the niche market Acura chases, this especially since the TL has been the anchor car for the Acura brand.

All Acura's are Luxury cars.

A Luxury car is a car with a smooth and quiet ride, leather seats, power windows, seats, and locks and alarm.

A car must have all of these things to be a luxury car.

The Acura TSX, TL, NSX, RL, and Legend are luxury cars.

The Honda Accord LX is not a luxury car, but a Honda Accord EX-L is a luxury car. It has everything a Mercedes or Audi or Acura or Lexus has.

Acura is considered a luxury brand. It's owned by Honda. For awhile, Honda and Acura sold the same cars with different features.

I would consider it a luxury car. But the person above me has a strange statement. I agree that most luxury cars should have leather, but cars like a 2000 Mercedes ML320 didnt come with leather. Or even new cars like BMWs and Mercedes that come with vinyl or "leatherette." Does that mean their not luxury cars? I think it mostly depends on a brand.

Pretty much all Acura's are luxury cars.  But I'd still label the TL an entry level luxury sedan, much like the Infiniti G35 or the Lexus ES350.  I tend to think anything over $40k gets into mid-level luxury and anything over $50k as luxury.  That being said I own a TL and its plenty enough luxury for me.
