  1. A 'wind-up' is a metaphor based on winding a clock up too tightly and stressing the mainspring.

I don't think the USA cares two hoots what Russia or anyone else thinks about their foreign policy.  I've never seen any sign of it before.

  2. Yes.  GWB wants to start a third world war.  He knows quite clearly that as soon as a shield is cited in Poland, Russia will attack Poland to bring it down and from then on we'll have t*t-for-tat bombings.

The sooner that one-time alcoholic goes the better it would be for USA and the rest of the world.

  3. I think so.  Surround Russia with our allies and our weapons.  If you ask me we're asking for trouble.  If you are as concerned about it as I am vote democratic the next election.  Let's fix our own country's problems instead of worrying about Poland and Georgia.  How would you feel if Russia put a missile defense system in Mexico or Cuba?

  4. The USA have placed missile defence's all over the world and it hasn't just been now its gone back many years, but why do they need to? Its as if they were preparing for a war.

  5. It more than a wind-up. It is consistent with the US policy of encircling other countries it fears will challenge its hegemony. It tried encircling China by goading Japan and Taiwan. It tried to put a large base in Singapore to do this, even though it already was in the Philippines. But Mr Lee told them to pack off. It is still trying to use Tibet as a base, and Afghanistan will also be used to base weapons against China. Now it is doing it with Russia. Missiles launched from Diego Garcia base can hit both Russia and China but Poland and Ukraine are even nearer. I'm afraid this is the truth about US ambitions and judging by the intemperate comments of americans, you can see how precarious it puts the peace of the world. Many of them are almost psychotic trigger-happy red-necks who would as quickly 'blow you away' as look at you.

  6. Why should Russia be whining? It's not like we are placing nukes on their borders. These are defensive missiles used to take out launched nukes, Russia, who is a country who would surely never think of an aggressive nuclear launch should have nothing to worry about, right?

Could Russia be raising a fuss because now their nukes will be less effective? Do you think that Russia should be allowed to be in a position to nuke Europe at will? It seems like Russia is winding itself up because it sees its nuking threat shrinking and shrinking.

  7. The United States is attempting to destroy the Russian Federation using the same methods it used against the old Soviet Union -- a combination of military encroachment and economic warfare.  They've been expanding NATO right up to the borders of Russia for years.  The latest was the war in Georgia with Georgia, America, and Israel backing the fighting against South Ossetia.  They were hoping for a guerilla war that would resemble the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980's.

  8. The missile shields will protect Russia also from a rogue state like Iran firing a nuclear missile off, don't know why they dont want it?.

  9. | think siting missile shield in Poland is unwise just like it was for Russia to attempt to site missiles in Cuba in the early 60's.  USA didn't like that for good reasons then, and I can see why Russia doesn't like it either in Poland now.

As for South Ossettia(?), I think Russia has been well over the top and I see no reason why the US shouldn't support the Georgians if they so wish.

  10. The missile shields have been planned for about 20 years so it's nothing new - just something for the Russians to have a good moan about. It's a logical place to put them since East Germany shut shop and the Russians took out their nukes.

As for Georgia - the Russians should resign themselves to the fact they are no longer the USSR and leave the sovereign states alone.

EDIT: Great to get a thumbs down for an informed answer to a question.

  11. Yes it is,and I think it will be sorry. Russia is not a child, and america is heading for a fall.
