Im 13 years old and I have been looking for a video camera, but the cheapest one I could find was about 100 bucks. So I saw my friend with the vcam now 2.0, so I researched it and found some reviews but half of them say that it sucks and the other half say that it's amazing... I'm not sure which to believe and I was wondering if it is anygood. PLEASE HELP ME!

  1. Mobile phones, some digital cameras, and older camcorders that have firewire capability might be up to par for you.  It all depends on what, where, and how often you are filming.

We believe the Vcam may seem too cheap or childish for you, but that depends on your video experience and tastes (as well as budget).  You are getting to that age where you want to try taking more responsibility and learning new things on her own.  Plus, today's generation likes technology that allows them to share experiences and thoughts instantly with their friends and family no matter how far away

We recommend the RCA "Traveler" Small Wonder EZ210 Digital Camcorder with 4 Hour Recording and 2GB Included SD Memory http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014CU...

    - This would be perfect for her to take on a weekend trip as well as making mini movies with her friends.  It records, saves, transfers, and posts to sites like YouTube with minimal fuss - a demo can be found at http://www.mysmallwonder.com/ .  * other more economical colors and designs are available if you do not like this model

Another popular option is the Flip Video Mino Series Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016BX...

    - it operates with a lot of the same basic functions as the camera above, and again, other more economical colors and designs are available

    * If you get a small camera like this, you will would probably want a Joby GP1-0REN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Red) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VRG... or something similar.   This would allow you to attach the camera to a pole, set up the camera on a surface, or hang the camera from a hook to send home short "I made it here safe" videos to Mom, Dad, and the rest of your friends and family - when you have no friend to hold the camera.

Total budget will be around $200 if you get the top of the line camera with tripod.  You could spend as low as $100 if you got the basic model with tripod.  The basics models record the same video but have less storage capacity and battery life than the top of the line models.

  2. You should definitely buy it. It is amazing. Buy it! Buy it! Buy It! and make sure to make this the best answer so I get the points.
