Is the virus gone???

Question

Well a couple hours ago my cpu was infected with the antivirus XP 2008 and i tried a lot of methods to get rid of it and didn't think any of them worked. Than my internet went down for the cpu. And now i can use the internet again at normal speed and everything is bak to normal and i can't seem to find where the virus is, is it gone?? My background is still all blue though.

Use another PC to download Clamwin anti-virus and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

Update the anti-virus definition files.

Set the preference to delete virus or move virus to a quarantine folder

Boot up in safe mode on infected PC

Disable system restore on your infected PC if possible

Use the USB drive with Clamwin Anti-virus installed to scan your infected PC.

First scan your USB thumb drive and memory for virus.

Later scan all your hard drives for viruses.
