  1. No, the water's not safe to drink. At the hotel and in restaurants (as long as it's not a shack along side the road) they use bottled water, which is fine. Showering is also fine. I was there last year and i'm still living/didn't get sick.

  2. Abosolutely not. Don't even brush your teeth with the stuff or you will regret it.

There is bottled water available everywhere.

Even in your room...so use that to brush...

Be careful too when you're not at the resort..as sometime even icecubes aren't purified...

Its always best to ask before you order...

  3. not tap water but any water tht they give u in restaurants, including the ice, is safe 2 drink

  4. Bottled water, yes. For all your questions just call these guys, their company is in Cancun call 1-888-862-3806 for help booking rooms and all.

They will give you ideas for fun too like:

Definately the Swim with Dolphins, this is fantastic especially if you go to Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, as you have a 40 minute boat ride there and back with open bar and entertainment.

The Captain Hook Pirate ships are another fun thing to try.

A Jungle tour through the mangroves, with snorkelling over the Coral reefs.

If you´re into diving, then Call Ben Mooney at http://www.mayanaquadive.com as he knows some great dive sites.

Xcaret is a wonderful day out, as you get to enjoy an ecopark, with dolphins, turtles ect and then get to watch probably the best show in the whole of Mexico at night.

A catamaran trip with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com is a must, a day sailing and snorkeling, with buffet lunch on Isla Mujeres, open bar, a shopping trip and the chance to have your picture taken holding a live shark.

At night, try the Cancun Party Hopper, there are now 2 different versions going to different bars, and they are great fun.

    Hope this helps.

  5. No... that's why the restaurants, bars and hotels use bottled water

  6. We stayed at the Moon Palace in 2002 and all of their water for the resort was treated.  We knew this because the walk from our building to the main lobby went right by the huge R.O. system building.  It even had a generator in the case of a power outage.  So, as long as you stay at a well known resort even brushing your teeth should be safe.  But, i'd ask anyway just to be sure.

  7. Bottled water is safe. Shower is safe. All tourist destinations make sure that guests are as safe as possible, if you are really worried, stay home.

  8. You can shower in the water- I guess... I've always stayed on a resort and they have filters... even then, they give you bottled water, you never drink it, and they even give bottled water to brush your teeth with-- nasty, nasty water! You will get very sick if you drink it!

  9. ALL water served to guests in Mexican resorts, or used for cooking or to make ice is BOTTLED water.  EVERYONE in Mexico, drinks bottled water.  just remember to use it to brush your teeth too.  And of course you can take a shower.  Do you really think these resorts could stay in business if they did not provide safe water for their guests?

  10. no, you can explode just any moment

  11. Yes, it's very good for your immune system and Darwin is always pleased when people drink the water in Mexico.  It weeds out the wimps.

  12. As an American living in Cancun allow me to answer completely and honestly!

But first I would like to ask you a question, if I may...and you may keep this answer to yourself if you would like. Do you REALLY think that so many people would travel to Cancun (in the top 5-vacation destinations for the world) if the water was not safe to shower in? REALLY???? OK now that you have answered that part all by yourself...

Most of the major hotels have their own purification system. But for your convenience they offer bottled water. Bathing is 100% safe to use even if it isn't run through a hotel purification system.

I would suggest that when brushing your teeth you use bottled water as well.

When you travel to any country other than your own you always run the risk of having an upset stomach; different food, too much alcohol, staying up late, and other things too numerous to mention.

Ice in drinks is 100% purified and is safe to use no matter where you are- this is regulated by the government.

If you prefer drinking from a bottle or can please ask for a straw...it could save you from unneccessary trips to the bathroom.

Hope this helps and have a great holiday!!
