I have just installed a split unit ac in my room and there is a pipe on the other side of the wall where the water comes out from and it normally gives about 30 to 50 litres of water every day and I was wondering if this water is safe for drinking? I was conserned about any chemicals which get disolved in the process or something similar..

  1. If you don't mind drinking bacteria that may or may not be safe. Use it for non-potable uses such as watering flowers or trees.

Air conditioning trays are notorious for clogging these lines from slime growth of bacteria.

  2. Absolutely not safe.

The air conditioner is pulling air

    and moisture from your home.

How clean do you think it is?

Can you see bacteria or germs?

Well they are there. DO NOT DRINK!

It is also, not safe, for your pets.

If you were absolutely dying, you could

possibly, boil it and then use it.

  3. it's pure when it condenses.  however, when building an air conditioner, there's no requirement that the oil, paint, and other stuff be clean.  i've thought of it, but i think i'll refrain.  you might keep in mind that most often, your tap water is pretty good.  somewhere i read that the fluoride that people complain about has done more for dental health than all the brushing eve did.

  4. I don't know if it is drinkable but many members of my family have been collecting it for years and watering their patio plants with it.

  5. The water condensed out of the air, sort of like rain water, but I still wouldn't drink it.  If the water pools somewhere inside the mechanism it can be home to a colony of microbes that could potentially make you sick.  I agree 30 to 40 liters of water is a lot to waste, but I agree with the other answer that perhaps the best use is for watering your garden.
