Is the weather going to get any better in the UK this summer?

Cause I think I might cry if it's going to be this rainy and c**p ALL summer. :(

It's gonna be sh** for the rest of the summer i reckon. We'll probably have a few blasts of sunshine along with massive downpours in-between. Ooo what fun.

Now i know why people from the UK move abroad ;o)

As long as the weather is nice on 2 August - my daughter gets married that day ... and my shoes are suede!!

You'd think we were actually due a summer this year, but apparently we're not going to get one.  The long range forecast is for rainy, grey miserable weather punctuated with the odd day or so of sunshine.  So, the weather we're getting at the moment is going to be our summer.  Oh, joy.  And to top it all off, it's been raining so much that my roof has started leaking.  Grrrr!

The weather we're having in UK just now is typical for the time of year - believe it or not - June/July are both notoriously unpredictable.

The weather in UK in Summer is very largely determined by the location of the Jet Stream which unfortunately is sitting somewhere over France.

What does the Jet Stream do?

In simple terms it sucks warm air up from the southern half of Europe and dumps it over the northern half.  So, if the Jet Stream is sitting somewhere over Scotland, UK gets a hot Summer.

The Jet Stream encourages Summer breezes to blow from the Azores, across Portugal and Spain and on up across France and into the UK.

This is not happening at present and instead we're having Atlantic weather more akin to September or March - plus the temperature is not very high - think tomorrow here in London it might get up to about 65-70f [20C] which is pretty pathetic really - should be about 30C by now and hovering between that and 35C - on and off - you know, ice cream weather.

The sites below may offer a glimmer of hope for something warm and sunny perhaps in August. . . .hope so.
