  1. The green areas are composed of cells that contain chloroplasts where starch is produced.  The white areas have cells that lack chloroplasts and therefore no startch is produced in these.

    Therefore, if your experiment worked, you should have seen starch in the green areas.


  2. White zones are just areas that have no other pigment and the green zones are places that have chlorophyll.  Plants store starch in stems, roots, seeds, and fruits, but not in the leaves.
