  1. Never

  2. depends on formal system we are working in

  3. Hole or whole? If it's the hole than it's always greater than a part. If you know what hole it's??

  4. Not really dear.

Because without the one part, the whole may not function properly.

Though on the other hand, without the whole, the part would not function properly either, though the parts make up the whole.

In short dear, the whole cant exist without the part.meaning, a part is more important in a whole.

    Thanks for asking

  5. Well it depends what number your whole is and how much your part is. Lets say the whole is 7 and the part is part of 8 and its half of the whole it turns out to be 4 so in that case yes but another way is like if your whole is 2 and the part is part of 10 and its half a part so it would be 5 so in that case no. I hope this is what you ment and I know its kinda confussing but it sounded better in my head!

  6. Yes. Why do you doubt it?

  7. Depends on what you mean by 'greater than'. In math, 'greater than' is defined more clearly. It is not the case in English.

  8. Interesting question. If you mean the whole of a hole, then definitely not. If you want the part of a hole, or whole, for that matter, you would not want to trip and be on your way. I like to confuse you, so when you have the whole of a hole, not part of a whole hole, then you are definitely not better off than only part of the hole's whole. Or whole's hole. I think.

Or what if it is evil? You definitely want only part of evil, not the whole. But then the hole arises again. I hope it's only a part, and not a whole. Holes can be tricky, on the whole.

  9. The whole by definition will always be greater than or equal to a part.

I think you mean, "Is the whole always greater than the SUM OF its parts?"

The answer is no. In many cases it is—your car is much greater than a pile of its parts. But is a whole pizza greater than the eight slices that make it up? Nope.

  10. depends on what you're speaking of, and what you mean by "greater" (which can be subjective). you could say that 10 is the sum of 12 and negative 2. then the part 12 is greater than the whole 10. or you could mix a bunch of foods that taste great, but are awful together. then the parts (ingredients) are greater (better tasting) than the whole (the food dish you've prepared). a piece of artwork may have some really great parts (or elements --lines, shapes, colors, etc), but they may not interact well and thus the whole (the piece) may not be any good.

just some ideas that popped into my head. not very scientific stuff --sorry if that's what you're looking for. ;) interesting question, though.  i look forward to reading others' answers.
