Question:

Is the whole battle of the sexes much ado about nothing?

I think that women should be given equal protection under the law as men. What I don't understand is why there are so many riduculous attempts to pit men against women -- ie who does what better. What is the point?

  1. We're supposed to complement each other, not fight each other.  So yes, it is.

Four thumbs down?  I guess people WANT us to fight each other?

  2. You're 100% right, and I get so tired of it. We're all people, right? Why can't we just accept and respect each other?

  3. Amen to that.  The point is for people to promote their own agendas and if pitting men against women furthers that agenda, so be it.  A waste of a lot of time and energy, it seems to me.

  4. Dude axn run and hide... Your pathetic; hope you never see me. To answer this question I must answer with a question who doing the pitting?  I think some men do things better then some women and some women do better then those men.

  5. There is none. I hope everyone who has instigated one of these battles is able to realize that.

  6. There is no point, the whole fact of individual differences means that any valid s*x difference is too vague to apply at the individual level anyone, and there is no real "normal".

The only problem is getting people to *see* that. It's not just women who suffer either.

  7. I believe your first answerer needs for women to be weak and stupid in order to good about himself. They're have been female geniuses, but they're not near as famous as the men.

  8. Because sexist people like to use them as a justification for discrimination against women, and then feminists are compelled to show the other side of the story.  If we could just agree that being identical and having equal rights are not the same thing, it would all be a lot easier :-)

  9. The " battle " is as it always has been; the variance in reproductive strategy.

Only J and a few other posers could possible mix individual tendencies up with normal distributions of many varying traits.

Equal under law is fine and good, but do not confuse equality of legality with equality of identity.

All human behavior is normal, J, so it is " real. " And average tendencies do show up at the individual level. Are you right handed?

  10. Exactly, there is no battle. There isn't ONE characteristic that links all men together and all women. Every one is an individual. But like everything, religion etc you will always get people that are prejudice and want to push one group of people down.
