To be honest, i'm really sick of this whole thing, and I can understand why people may feel upset about it, but I don't like how everyone is saying how China is cheating. I find it especially annoying how if China wins gold, everyone starts being accusatory, but if USA wins gold and China only gets silver or bronze, then everyone just forgets about the whole thing!

  1. I agree with you.

I tend to like to watch and enjoy the sport myself.

I also feel this Olympics is full of nit picking and not enough good coverage!

The Olympic Gymnasts have always been young and if anyone has practiced the sport of gymnastics they would quickly understand you will see most of the perfection in the younger ones vs. the older ones.

This is not to say the older women and men do not have a chance but i am simply being realistic.

It would be interesting however if they added age categories someday.

This would give everyone a chance.

Bottom line is that i don't think China is cheating or not cheating any more than any other country may or may not be.

I cannot wait for tonight's closing ceremonies! I hope it is just as grand as the opening ones were.

OMG THE USA JUST WON THE GOLD IN VOLLEYBALL!! A HA HA HA HA HA!

  2. Nadia Comeneci of Romania won the gold medal in 1976 and she was only 14.   Yet, nobody criticized about her age. The truth is, this whole controversy is all about race, not age.

  3. if they did cheat, they just made it worse for them if they got caught. Having the team gold and He Hexin edging out Nastia Liukin on the uneven bars for gold and then taking it out from under them. That will tear them apart. USA didn't want it this way but that's what will happen if they did just happen to cheat. They will feel humiliated and everyone will remember it.

  4. Unfortunately this controversy will not go away, a good trick would be to limit the gymnastic competitors to being under 20.. then we will see if the same passports are used for age identification purposes.... or will the Chinese find a way to reverse the aging process????

God forbid would a Chinese party member ever Authorise the reinterpreting of the truth in the name of National interests????

  5. years probably

  6. No, we don't forget if the USA cheats.  Marion Jones (US Gold medalist) was stripped of her gold medal and is in PRISON right now.  We don't tolerate cheaters.  No matter where they are from.

To answer your question, the global opinion about the age of the gymnasts is fairly unanimous.  They are too young.  Officially, the IOC has no recourse.
