I mean Henman always seemed to get a favourable draw and now the William sisters may meet in the final and they're not sedded one and two so why is this? Coincidence? Call me sceptical but come on....

  1. As interesting and entertaining as this idea is to ponder, the reality is that there is no conspiracy whatsoever. They have been in the same half of the draw in tournaments many times in the past including the 2005 Wimbledon, 2005 US Open, 2006 Australian Open, 2007 French Open, 2007 US Open and even this year at the 2008 French Open.

Their placement in the draw is determined by their respective rankings and random draw. The only two seeds in the tournament that are gauranteed to end up in the opposite side of the draw are the 1st and 2nd seeds. Everyone else gets the luck of the draw. There were actually more complaints from commentators and fans that they should have had their seedings inflated at this tournament to make sure they didn't face the higher seeds earlier in the tournament and ended up in the opposite side of the draw, but the organizers went straight off the rankings instead. In the end it really didn't matter though.

  2. lol i always wonder about the ``draws`` in all tournaments !!! I sometimes think there fixed because Nadal always seems to have a tough path before he makes the final compared to others lol its true :)

  3. no it goes on rankings so its impossible for the heavys to meet...

  4. I'm pretty sure that the only thing they do for these tournaments is make sure the 1 and 2 seeds are on opposite sides of the draw.  Otherwise they don't do much else or at least aren't supposed to! :) I think that the williams sisters meeting in the final without being the 1 and 2 seeds is indeed coincidence this time.  They have played in earlier rounds before I believe.

As far as having a favorable draw, that is all opinion for the most part.  I'm sure Wimbledon doesn't do anything out of the ordinary that favors the UK's players... ;)
