  1. Its a great firewall, protected me for months, but if your thinking about taking it off, don't it'll expose you to hackers easily, get windows defender and maybe a free antivirus if you dont have them, windows firewall protects your computer well even when you are not online.

  2. It performs the functions of a firewall quite well.  It will NOT protect you from viruses and malware.  A firewalls only function is to prevent people attacking your computer when you are connected to the internet.  If you USE the internet (open a web browser, email etc..) then the firewall provides no protection against viruses.  You need an antivirus product for that, but there is no  reason for another firewall to replace the windows one.

  3. Comodo is a very good free firewall. http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

  4. As far as firewalls go.. it's better then nothing. However..  it only provides one-way protection. As in, protection against incoming attacks from hackers or malicious software. If there is malware on your system, the Windows firewall can't stop it from sending information back out.

There are other free firewalls that can. Both Online Armor and Comodo offer two-way protection, and also provide much stronger defense against attack then the Windows firewall can.

Both can be found on http://www.download.com .

And like the others said, a firewall only does so much. You need antivirus and antispyware software as well.
