Is the world really going to end in 2012? ?

I really need to know 'cos some people seem certain that it is,, and also why is it said to be ending in 2012?

the world will end AS WE KNOW IT on december 21, 2012. there is an awakening happening right now. the return of the serpent god Quetzalcoatl or Satan (satan represented by the snake gave adam and eve the fruit of knowledge) the return of the serpent of knowledge is the internet, with it's endless inter winding connections, there will be a critical mass of persons who will be thinking on the same wavelength per say for the 1st time ever on that date, it will forever change how we view ourselves.-blurey

2012 is when the most advanced and reliable calendar, which was made by the mayans hundreds of hundreds of years ago, abruptly ends.  Now this could mean the end of the world "as we know it", or actual end times.

Okay im just gonna make this plain and simple. Theres these guys back then called the Mayans they were known to be really really smart like everything they said usualy happend. So they made a calendar and it ended on December of 2012 for unexplained reasons. SO people believe that the world is gonna end because of their calendar. There you go =)

People thought that it would be the armagedon as the clock stroke midnight in 1999 to welcome 2000. People started hiding in holes and everything. Nothing happened.

People thought the world was going to end on the 06.06.06, nothing happened.

Ever since the 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenario did not pan out, the scare mongers have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

You've been listening to too many people.  They obviously are referring to the Mayan civilization that said the world is going to come to an end on December 21, 2012.  Now first of all, how would anyone know when the world is going to end?  If you believe in God, then you would know that only HE knows when the world is going to end.  There have been many, many people and civilization and groups that have told everyone that the world would end on such and such a date.  Obviously, they have been wrong.  There will be others that claim to prophesy when the world is going to end, but they would be just as wrong as the others.  Just go live your life to the best of your ability, love your neighbor and pray for your enemies, and hope that you gain your eternal reward in heaven.  As for me, I'm making reservations to a nice restaurant for December 22, 2012.
