Is the yz125 exhaust pipe the same for 1978 and 1979?

No,,but they are very close.

Biggest difference is the connection @at the cylinder.

Yamaha had soooo many different pipe configurations,,,and some are "impossible" to Modify to fit a different year model.

It would be almost like building a pipe from scratch.

'78 and '79 swap would need modifying,,,but not very complicated at all.

It would involve welding,,but any muffler shop,most body shops,and lots of bike shops  could do it for pretty cheap.

"77 and '78 are  the same,,,I THINK,,not 100% certain
