Is their a breed of lotus that produces fruit.?

i think their is.is their.if their is tell me where it grows,how much sunlight it needs and what kind of fruit does it produce like does it produce a fruit that tastes bitter or sweet.

  1. If by "Lotus" you mean water lily as seen in the picture below ,only then you read further ( This is because the word lotus has different meanings in the plant kingdom it self !!!)

    The plant in the picture above and its closest relatives are collectively called water lilies and all are floating aquatic plants found in fresh water ponds only .

    They require full sunlight and plenty of water ( With sufficient depth) in the pond .

    Nymphoea and Nelumbium are the two distinct Genera of water lilies .

    Both of them produce fruits ( All flowering plants are fruit producing as well !).

    Out of the two mentioned above the genus Nelumbium ( Also called Nelumbo ) produces fruits that are edible !

    The fruits (A single flower produces many tiny fruit lets) are edible and nutritious. The taste is more like that of peanuts or ground nuts .  

    The central portion of the flower in the picture above develops in to a collection of tiny fruit- lets .

    It is found in many countries including South -East asia and North America .


  2. Technically, a lotus is a flower producing plant, and all flowers produce fruits.  What you're looking for is a fruit edible to humans.

    Try the Diospyros lotus, which produces the date-plum fruit, a type of persimmon.

  3. All the lotus produce the fruit and seed if the required conditions for it are fulfilled.
