Is their a list of named hurricanes by year? ?

We've been told to believe that hurricanes are increasing in number and severity. I'm looking for a comprehensive list of all named hurricanes by year so that I can try to see for myself if it's true. This will take me back at least a half a century, to the time when hurricanes were first given names.

search for national weather service and they may have such a list. or: search "list of hurricanes by year", somebody must have compiled this. Good luck.

I found two websites that list the names and dates of hurricanes, I'm not sure if it goes back far enough for you though. Good luck!
