Is their a pernicious grass or anything that will choke out bindweed creeping charlie creeping ivy ?

creeping charlie creeping ivy and a few other names are called bindweed. How can one eliminate it inn clay soils in lawns in cities that do not allow chemical weed-killers.

  1. In the spring put down corn gluten meal, its an organic pre emergent weed control.   The best way of weed control is to have a green thick lawn.  That involves cutting the lawn higher, fertlizing regularly, and watering regularly.  There are plenty of organic fertilizers, Scotts has one.  Some lawn care companies such as tru green offer organic lawn programs as well.  


  2. Grass will not choke out bindweed, the opposite will happen, and the only way to rid your lawn of such inoccuos weed is to dig it out, even then these roots travel far and deep. What I do to control these is that I walk around the lawn with a bottle of "round-up" get as close to the roots as I possibly can and spray, which really does help to control them, even if it does leave a few little bare patches in the lawn.
