Is their a place like Sylvan learning cheaper, as good?

sylven cost so, their must be other programs to help are kids catch up to their grade level. and not 500.00 amonth.

Try a tutor,skip the middleman. Otherwise request more from the school.

Have you asked your school board to test to see if an individualized educational plan (IEP) is in order for your student?  I had to fight to get my son tested but once he was they provided help in some areas & gifted services in areas that he acceled in.  Its free if your student is enrolled in public school.

One place to try would be a college or university if there is one near where you live. Ask one of the departments (like special education) if they have students who could help tutor your child. You could also put up a flyer there for education majors who are graduates or juniors or seniors in undergrad to help your child. At least you'd know that the student has a lot of training in what they are doing with your child.
