Is their a way to make tissue culture media with home ingredients?

I want to make homemade tissue culture media for plants (and maybe animals too) with home ingredients. Is there a recipe?

  1. even if you can make it homemade style.. can you ensure that your agar is free from contamination??? you got autoclave at your house???

  2. No it is not possible to make  tissue culture medium from home ingredients. The tissue culture medium is composed of specific salts, vitamins, growth regulators etc. in a very specific quantities. These ingredients cannot be called as home ingredients. You may use sugar ( instead of sucrose) which is available in a grocery shop, but this sugar contains lot of impurities which may affect the growth of the cultures.  

  3. No. Media for plants and animals require precise concentrations of inorganic salts, growth hormones, vitamins, etc. Media for bacteria and fungi are easily made with home ingredients. Agar is available in Asian stores. Chicken broth, potato or V8 juice can be used to culture bacteria and fungi.
