  1. i use seachem prime, it eliminates chlorine, cloramine and detoxifies ammonia.  Even if you have a low reading of ammonia, your fish will be fine as long as the ph is under 7 it is now ammonium which is not harmful to the fish.

Seachem is economical - use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 200 L (50 gallons*) of new water

  2. Water conditioners are pretty generic.  Generally one is just as good as another.  Check the label and make sure that it neutralizes chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals in the water and after that just get whatever's cheapest.  If it will enhance the fish's slime coat or reduce stress, that's a plus but not particularly necessary.  Amquel + is one exception.  It's a really great water conditioner because it binds ammonia, nitrite and nitrates, so it improves water quality.  That's about the only water conditioner I'm willing to pay more for.

  3. Water conditioner is for all kinds of fish, so yes. AquaSafe is what I use. You can find it at Wal-Mart or your local pet store.

  4. Plenty , i use AquaSafe by TetraAqua. It gets rid of chlorine and other heavy metals in tap water
