Is their more than one kind of braile?

my friend knows how to read braile but she wanted to know if there is more than one kind of braile. for instance is there a japanese or a chinese or maybe even korean?

    The system is based on a cell with 6 dots.  If the Latin (A,B,C... ) alphabet is used in a language than I would guess that the cell meanings would incorporate that type of alphabet.  In that case a person could translate the letters, but unless they know the language they would have a problem.
