i would assume a bus .. i dont think any passenger trains make that trip ...why not just fly .. you can go to a small airport and hop on a little 18 seat dual prop plane for like 150 bucks ..or a big airport? theres an airport in syracuse im pretty sure.... if not boston is just a little ways off from syracuse   you will probably stop in massena ny first though just go to orbits n look it up

You can take a Greyhound bus from Syracuse to Albany, then transfer to another bus to get from Albany to Montreal. The trip takes about 9-10 hours.

You could do it by train, but it will require a connection.

You can take Amtrak from Montreal to Albany, and then change to a train to Syracuse.

Your other option is to take VIA (the Canadian equivalent of Amtrak) to Toronto, and from there you can get a train to Syracuse.
