My mom's scheduled an appointment for mental health therapy tomorrow and I really need medication to get rid of these HORRIBLE and blasphemous intrusive thoughts!!!! What do I do? If I go, I'll probably have to KEEP going every week or twice a week and I simply don't have the time. What should I do????

  1. Yes, I see.  Therapy would take, what, a couple hours or so a week.  Valuable time.  Worrying about intrusive thoughts, having instrusive thoughts, getting over having had intrusive thoughts, worrying that you will always have intrusive thoughts, worrying that you will act on intrusive thoughts, worrying that therapy will be difficult, worrying that therapy will not solve intrusive thoughts... all adds up to less times, right?  Two years is a lot of time.  If you could have made this stop on your own you would have.  Go get professional help.  You are a good person who deserves all the positive things that life can be.

  2. It doesn't matter what specifically those thoughts are, what you did is cognitive behavioral therapy.  It gets rid of whirling thoughts and the like and banishes them until it's appropriate to deal with them.  You do NOT need medication for this.

  3. What is your actual thought content?

Do you think of hurting other people or yourself?

Are they thoughts such as "Is there no God?"

It is very important that you share more information about your thoughts, otherwise you can not be helped....

Everybody experiences intrusive thoughts to some extent.

p.s...cognitive behavioural therapy helps you to retrain your brain to look at the world differently, to help people to be more positive. It does NOT get rid of thoughts. It is useful for people with anxiety and/or depression.

Depending on the severity of your intrusive thoughts it could be schizophrenia that you are suffering from, or you could just be over evaluating yourself. In either case CBT would not be of help to you.

  4. What on earth could be worth more time than your mental well being? I'm sure you can get rid of intrusive thoughts by yourself but I'm guessing you would eradicate them a lot quicker with a bit of help actually saving time in the long run.

  5. Your gonna need to tell us what your intrusive thoughts are if you really want help!

  6. The best advice I can give is to discredit those thoughts. As soon as you get an "intrusive thought", first examine it and think of what that thought actually mean, then think of why that thought is not acceptable, then replace it with a positive one. After awhile of doing this positive thoughts should be the first thoughts to cross your mind. Also start a hobby of some kind. the Bible says that an ideal mind is the devils work shop. Meaning that as long as you don't have any thing that you are working for you are pron to have wondering thoughts. I hope that this has helped you in some way. God bless
