Question:

Is there Amtrak service to Rockford, IL?

For a previous question, someone informed me that the Amtrak station on Walton Street in Rockford, IL is abandoned. But the Amtrak website trip planner shows this station as a destination - complete with specific arrival times and fares. Why is Amtrak listing this information if it is inaccurate. I know Amtrak has issues - but come on!

Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach service connects with the Texas Eagle at Chicago. Service is provided by Van Galder Bus Lines.

So, you may have to get aboard the bus and ride to Chicago to get on the train (although they are working on establishing train connections there again according to other sources, due to be finished sometime in 2006), but yes indeed it is a scheduled stop.

    1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or TDD/TTY (1-800-523-6590).

  2. Well, if the information that someone gave you about that station and the information that the website gives is being contradicting then the best suggestion that I can give you is to contact Amtrak and speak to someone who works for them. Maybe they can get to the bottom of it.

    You can contact them at

I hope this helps. Good luck!!
