  1. First of all, there are earthquakes everywhere, and everyday it's just they are too tiny to be felt. Second of all, Canada is not known for it's earthquakes. Also there has never been any tornados there and there is an EXTREMELY LOW probability that it will happen.

Listen, I live in CALIFORNIA!! I should worry more than you about earthquakes!

    I hope that helps!! :-)

  2. Although Canada is not known for earthquakes, we do get them, and quite often we do feel them, especially in British Columbia on Vancouver Island, I lived out on the island for a few years and have felt a few, never to severe, but there was enough shaking to knock a figurine off my shelf.

Calgary does not typically get much in the way of earthquake activity, but there have been some small tremors in the past, an earthquake would be the least of my worries in Calgary.

Now tornadoes are a different story,

Yes Calgary has been known to have tornadoes in the past, not necessarily in the city, but in the suburbs and just outside city limits.

Last year there were a few that damaged some property just outside the city, and already this year there have been a few sightings of funnel clouds, and our summer is only starting!

One can not predict what is going to happen with our weather anymore. Canada does get a lot of tornado activity, especially throughout  Alberta,Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

  3. Not sure why SaskAire got a thumbs down - a chunk of a trailer park in Edmonton disappeared thanks to a tornado and there was another a few years ago out at Red Deer Lake I think it was. I have often driven the #2 highway from Lethbridge to Calgary and watched tornadoes picking up top soil as it ran through the fields.

I was born in Quebec and the 300 year old stone house I grew up in had one end wall split from ground to roof by an earthquake.

Last year a few of my ornaments went flying in the place I presently live in in Ottawa when there was a little earthquake.

We do not have a reputation for the huge size of them but Canada does indeed experience both.

  4. Canada experiences many tornadoes every year, just like the rest of N. America.  Earthquakes are less common but they are felt now and then.  You just can't run and hide they are everywhere.

  5. im sure there are some earthquakes because Calgary isnt too far from Yellowstone which is an active underground volcanoe. i havnt heard of tornadoes hitting Calgary but im sure it has happened. i know there have been tornadoes in Edmonton and Gull Lake and Sylvan Lake was under a tornadoe watch a few weeks ago(my stepdad told me this i didnt hear it myself).

  6. There's not much of a worry about either in Calgary.   Yes, the odd time there is a small tornado but more often than not there's a warning but nothing happens.

Earthquakes are not something to worry about at all.   I think I've felt a very slight tremer once way back in the 80's.  That's it.
