  1. Another name for God is Evolution - it created everything so it must be God!!

If believing in the fictional God who lives in heaven helps you to live your life happily, then i don't have a problem with that. On the other hand, organised Religon divides people into groups and causes too many problems.

I believe in Science, not fiction - there is far too much evidence to support evolution and the birth of our Solar System

    :-)

  2. Yes I know God is real, but you can only prove it to yourself by having a personal experience for yourself. You can't possibly 'prove' it to someone else, it simply can't be done.

  3.   I believe theres a god. No I can't really prove it.

Its jus something you either feel or don't feel. Its

like  one of the other answers, you have to

have some kind of experience that involves your

beliefs, which will make you a believer one way or the other.

  4. You can't disprove the existence of God.  The only way to prove the existence of God is to actually see, hear, etc God himself, or for him to give us a clear, unmistakeable sign.  Since God hasn't seemed to want to talk to us for the last 2000 years, I doubt the "seeing is believing" tactic is going to work.  So it's just something you have to accept.  Some people see the trees and the ocean and the sky and the stars and they see God; other people don't.  I can't explain why this is, but I feel sorry for the people who can't see the exquisite structure behind the universe that only a being of divinity could fabricate.  Most atheists think Christians are close minded.  I think atheists are, for believing that only what can be proven through experimental verification is real.

  5. If God exists, why is there so much pain, hunger, disease and Milton Keynes in the world?

  6. There is God. Only God and nothing but.

It is very hard to identify something when you are looking out from inside.

If you want proof against; try disproving God.

If you want proof for; try looking around you in detail, and be a witness.

God cares not whether you believe or disbelieve, we are the equivalent to a microbe within an elephant's gut declaring itself ruler of the universe.

  7. No. You are apparently suffering from a form of mental disorder and mass delusion known as theism. Visit this webiste www.rationalresponders.com. They can fix you up!

    http://video.rationalresponders.com/vide...

  8. Yes

  9. The answer is no, and the proof is, well, look around you. If there was a God who created all things perfect, why do we have evolution? why do we have war? why do we have evil people in this world? The universe is far too complicated to have been designed and created by a being. Look around you, I see no evidence for a God, and everything I see contradicts the existence of a God. I do not believe that anyone can truly think about this, and conclude that god exists.

After all, if many religious people say everything has a creator, and ours is God. But what created god??? and where is he now at the time when his creation is threatened more than it ever has been before?

He is no-where because he does not exist.

  10. No, I don't believe in God.

You don't need proof to reject the concept of God because that isn't how science works. Science is based on skepticism, i.e. you assume that something is untrue unless there is evidence to support it, and every suggestion must be criticised and examined for flaws. The suggestion that there is a God is irrational and very abstract, so you would be unscientific to accept it until you could 'disprove' it (to have proof that God isn't there, you are implying that it's already a sound and established explanation for the universe, which it isn't).

Think of fairies. Can you prove to me that there aren't fairies at the end of your garden? Of course not. That doesn't mean we all believe in fairies, because nobody will ever be able to give you concrete evidence that they don't exist, but the idea is not the simplest scenario and is abstract, so you assume there aren't any fairies unless you have reason to believe there are. God is no different to fairies.

Of course that's how I think because I'm a scientist. You could choose to think irrationally and decide that you've had a personal message from God or that you have an inner awareness of His presence. My response to that would be human psychology, as it's far more likely that the mind plays tricks on you than the reality of an actual God being.

Irrationality is fine for people who don't need or want to truthfully understand the world and the universe around them. Some people just like being told what to think by others (especially people who dress in special costumes and wear big hats), but I'll make up my own mind about the world around me and so far I have no reason to believe in God at all.

  11. no. proof for the non-existance of God is the zero solid proof of the existance of God

  12. Yes God exists we didn't pop up out of no where.

  13. well, you can't prove he exists that's why its called the mystery of faith, and as a catholic we gotta believe in him and put our faith into it =]

and to anyone who says if a God exists why is their all this war blahblah, God made good, and we can create evil/badness..its not a doing of God.Thats why we have purposes in lifee

  14. There will never be proof oh His existance, its whether you believe in Him that his existance shows... Thats your much needed proof Sa'!

  15. Yes.  As a matter of, there is the God of Heaven and the god of this world.  The proof you seek is in the Bible and it is up to you to believe.  Our life is only lived out on what we believe.  I pray that   these words answer your question and remove the doubt you carry in regards to the existence of God.

  16. I. First: You exist.

Matter-energy can NOT be created, but here we all are 'existing'. This implies the very hand of God leaving every atheist staring in the mirror asking themselves, "But how?"

II. Second: Big Bang and other cosmological evidence.

If you truly understand quantum mechanics then you will know that the Big Bang theory requires a creator by fiat. Think of the universe in reverse until it's small enough to be completely described by quantum mechanics alone. In order for the universe to start unfolding into what we see now, our universe's specific wave function had to be brought into existence as a certain possibility out of an infinite number of other possible wave functions that had to collapse or at least decohere. At this fuzzy nanoscopic beginning, this required a 'Prime Observer' to enable this and set the expansion of the universe into motion and those initial conditions became the very facets of physical law. What we refer to as this finely tuned 'reality'. This need for an 'observer' comes from the basic quantum mechanical concept known as Shrodinger's Cat. Also, we must remember that the universe is being said to have come from nowhere which implies an act of 'creation'. This expansion of the universe is also alluded to 11 times in the Bible: Job 9:8 ; Psalm 104:2 ; Isaiah 40:22 ; Isaiah 42:5 ; Isaiah 44:24 ; Isaiah 45:12 ; Isaiah 48:13 ; Isaiah 51:13 ; Jeremiah 10:12 ; Jeremiah 51:15 ; Zechariah 12:1

The Bible also alludes to the soon to come Big Rip:

    Revelation 6:14 ; Isaiah 34:4 ; 2 Peter 3:10

III. Third: The fulfillment of hundreds of Biblical prophecies.

For instance here is one that was prophesied almost 2 millennia ago, yet has manifested itself now. Revelation 13:16-18

To see one become fulfilled soon in 2 Thessalonians 2:10-13 ,

'Aliens' just in time for 2012!  Many will be fooled...

  17. nope there isn't =]

    there's no scientific proof.

    &

i'm sick to death of being told in school that we should believe.

but they never give us reasons not to.

to me it's just some people who've got bored, and wrote a book full of stories.

    &

most catholics these days, do something wrong, and run off to confession as if it's ok & their guilts gone

    it's pathetic!

just another excuse if you ask me.

  18. question is:

which came first the chicken or the egg?

If there was nothing before god what created him...

Answer that question and i'll convert to christianity

    If not..

I'll carry on sitting on the fence till i see valid evidence.

  19. J believe there is a God..J cant prove but j believe...

  20. There is no scientific proof that God exists. It seems very impossible that God created Earth. The planet, Earth was formed from the nebula clouds of gas and dust & no-one was living. The solar system was completely lifeless.

If God did create Earth at the time, where was he?

How did 1 tiny person create Earth, the ENORMOUS Sun & the Moon? How?

There is a way better chance that God didn't exist.

  21. i don't think you should ask this type of question in the Astronomy category, sorry

  22. If I did not exist, you could not read this, and you had better believe that I am tolerant, because if I was not, there would not be this rubbish on here.....by the way when most of you talk to me, just which one of us does the talking, and which the listening ? answer that and you will know the truth....I am not there really, just you, talking to thin air....and putting down others who do not believe as you do , does not make any of you, my chosen ones....

  23. I prefer the Buddhist approach that it's pointless wasting time and energy pondering the imponderable. It's better to look inside yourself to better understand and cope with the human condition than it is to look outside yourself for help/salvation which may not be there.

  24. If I believe in a god, I don't need no proof.

But I can keep God from messing into science. Science is naturalistic, which means that supernatural explanations (Like God, Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy) are not acceptable.

God is per definition, not provable by scientific methods. And also not deniable by scientific methods. Science and personal spiritualism work together pretty much like that: Can something be less of a miracle, only if you know how it works?

  25. you can't prove it.... you know religion is also called a BELIEF for a reason....

there are really two sides to look at.... A. the chances of just forming are miraculously small, so there must be intelligent design behind it (which is flawed, because if our supperiority took engineering by a more perfect being, just imagine what it took to create god himself)..... if we are the result of intelligent creation, then the same logic should apply and he should be the design of intelligent creation as well, but where did alllllllllllllll this start? people declared there to be one single god, for this exact reason.... it nips this line of questioning in the bud.... right off the bat... because of course, that would pretty much tear down religion as know it today... i'll let you figure out all the paradoxes in that one on your own....

also, people are always saying god is loving, caring, forgiving etc etc... but no matter what culture you look in, he's portrayed as an angry wrathful, grudge holding BULLY.... he demands that everyone CHOOSE to woship him (i love how he 'gives you a choice') and abide by his rules, or you shall burn and suffer for all time.....

sorry, but that is the exact opposite of a caring, compasionate, forgiving individual.... you can either admit your god is not as nice and forgiving as most people make him out to be, B. being the fact that next to no religious stories or records make sense.... everything from how long people lived, to god's behavior, so now you can admit it's all just made up to begin with..... there is no third option in this case.... because IF he does exist, he is nothing like what the general public think of when they hear 'god'....

OH i forgot to add my beliefs...

mine are quite simple... and it actually follows the same line of thinking as the 10 commandments... but it's one simple commandment.... do to others as i'd have them do to me.... and i follow it very strictly... i believe in karma.... i believe there is SOME unseen force, because i do agree, there must be more to the universe then we see (recent science is showing us this as well) but i don't think there's an conscience intelligent being out there watching me.... i more or less believe in the stars (astrology) and the unseen.... i've seen too much of the 'unseen' work, to ignore it. i believe that what i do today, will effect me tomorrow.... but in an amplified version.... i do good, good will come (and it does) i do bad, and it will come at me, even worse (AND IT DOES)....

i was really young when i started noticing the effects of karma, still a christian had never even heard of the word.... i contributed it to god... but like i said, i got older and things didn't fit anymore.... obviously what i was doing was effecting the outcome of my life (and more of a level of quit school and don't get a good job... a deeper connection, one that can't be seen or even felt, you just KNOW it's there) so i couldn't just throw it all out the window... and then i found out about karma, and it fit exactly my own belief system i developed..... i paid no attention to anyone else but me and the way i saw the world.... i studied it for years to understand better to find out what i really believed in (everyone believes in something, even those who don't believe in any higher power BELIEVE there is no higher power, but up til this point i had no idea what it was i believed.)

  26. My belief is that there is not a god, but I don't completely rule out the possibility. I'm not so arrogant as to claim any certainty in the matter.

  27. Wrong section, Brainiac.

  28. Yuri Gagarin is thought to have said "I don't see any God up here." but these words were never on the official transcripts recorded during the space flight, when mankind has been beyond the clouds where most people think God lives and they have seen nothing, that should tell you one thing God lives in your mind & heart, not in the clouds or outer space, i don't wish to sound like i'm slandering you beliefs but mankind has travelled beyond the clouds and into that is called the heavens by your fellow religious folks and there was no God, so what should this tell you from a logical point of view?

  29. Low and behold, when the Extra Terrestrials discovered this planet they made direction to nurture it. Causing the winds and waters to shape the earth and surely it was very good. The great universal DNA was seeded to cause plants and the lower kingdom of animals. Then the Adams were harvested from the apes of the fields and genetically altered with Extra Terrestrial highly developed DNA to become superior apes to rule over the earth and its creatures. Then the Extra Terrestrials brought forth religion so that the earthling humans would praise them for their creation. Praise be E.T.

  31. STOP firstly this Question is not going to work because you think your right and i think i am.

To believe that a personal experience is evidence of a God is purely arrogant and stupid. To believe that the Bible or any other religious book is evidence of a god is flawed beyond belief. If you believe in books then surely you should be praying to harry potter at this moment - i mean there were 7 in that series! But because a book is old it makes it evidence does it? well charles dickens will be happy! Stating rhetorical questions like 'how were we made then?' is a stupid method of arguing in its self. Just because your blind faith has given you an answer does not mean it to be right - pure ignorance. Try standing back and look at what you are doing - majority of religious people have been religious since birth and have been forced into it thinking it to be right. i believed in my invisible friend until i was 8 - until i realised he wasn't real - try giving up yours.
