Is there a Hurricane in Florida?

On the news it said there is gonna be a hurricane in Florida!!! On August 19 2008 That's the day of the first day of school! Is "Palm Harbor Elementary" school close that day??? Please help!

At 5 PM EDT...2100 UTC...the Hurricane Watch on the West Coast of Florida is extended northward to Tarpon Springs. A Hurricane Watch is in now effect for the Florida Keys from south of Ocean Reef to Key West...including the Dry Tortugas and Florida Bay...and along the Florida Mainland from Card Sound bridge westward to Tarpon Springs. A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area...generally within 36 hours.

My first day of school (tomorrow) was cancelled until further notice, and I'm in Miami. More summer for me! LOL! Oh, and it's not a hurricane, it's a tropical storm. I don't think it's going to hit us directly, but I think schools are closing just to be safe. We ARE going to be hit with wind and rain for sure, though.

yes, tomorrow is an hurricane in florida for the first day of school in my school announced there is no school tomorrow and were very comfuse so we dont know wat to do and there maybe be no school on wednsday either hurricane will be august 19, 2008 =[ dont worry......

schools r closing so far for broward. miami-dade, and keys! i live in miami dade. and watch the weather channel for more info. also google it. i think they also close tuesday  and wednesday..

I heard on Bay News 9 that Pinellas Country school district would be closed on Tuesday but you might want to tune in and keep posted on school cancellations.
