  1. A single Nuke has the destructive force of about 6 atomic bombs. you couldn't wipe out the u.s. with a single nuke. id say it would take 9 or 10 if you space them out, and that if you wanted to let radiation do a lot of the work. but we do have over 10,000 nukes.

  2. I never saw so many funny answers.

Nuclear weapons come in different strengths.  Some can be set for different yields simply  by turning a s***w.  It depends on the power of the bomb, but I don't think that any ONE item is sufficient for the destruction of the entire U.S.

They are measured in Kilo-ton (meaning equal to so many thousand pounds of TNT, or Megatons (meaning equal to so many million tons of TNT)

The can be "atomic" bombs  or "Hydrogen" bombs, or even Neutron bombs.  ALL are Nuclear weapons.  Hydrogen bombs have the higher POTENTIAL for destruction, with Neutron haveing the least, but with higher radiation kill per yield.

  3. The atomic bombs dropped on Japanese non-military civilian targets on August 6th and August 9th of 1945 effectively destroyed the United States.

  4. An antimatter bomb could.

  5. If I told you I'd have to kill you

  6. It is the reflection on the quality of question. Has man conceived of a weapon that can wipe out life in a such a vast area(1/14th of land area) I wonder. The lose end of this question is in its undefined nature. What is meant here by 'DESTROY' that has relevance to the size of united states (I am using the same capitals as in the question to highlight how ridiculous it looks if used by others). This country, with the 4th biggest area and 3rd biggest population, largest (first) GDP and global intersts can receive 9/11 bombing and destruction of her WTC, as a pin prick.

  7. Not without destroying the rest of the world in the radiation.  Anyway, I think it's amazing just how many times our leaders and the leaders of other nuclear capable nations have threatened nuclear strikes on another nation.  I'd give us about a year before we actually see one.
