Is there a Relatively quiet power filter?

I had an aquaclear 20 on a 10gallon tank and it wasn't bad...On my new 37 gallon there is a Marineland 200 Biowheel filter and the motor vibration is horribly loud.

Anyone else have this problem with a filter?

Anyone got any suggestions for a quieter filter for a 37 gallon tank?

I love the idea of the biowheel but the sound from the motor is just too loud!

Thanks!

  1. try Penguin Power filters I have them on a lot of my tanks and they make no noise. they do have a bio wheel. also before you do that check to see that everything is seated properly. some times it is just the piece that sits over the impeller is not pushed down all the way. or the tube itself is not down all the way.

  2. I have a whisper filter from tetra (the company, not the fish) on my 38 galloon tank, and it works wonderfully. it has good biofiltration, and does just what i need from it.

  3. I have a whisper filter as well and I love it. i have a 130g tank so I also have another one on it as well and I am not sure of the name but they are both very quiet. The only time you can hear it is when the water level gets low, then you can hear the water flow into the tank but that is it.
