Is there a Republican out there who will admit the Palin family situation is a problem?

After many years of Republican office holders and politicians morally condemning teenage premarital s*x and pregnancy, blaming their parents for giving them s*x ed and mentioning condoms, and insisting the subjects of birth

control, pregnancy, and who makes decisions about a pregnancy are public issues needing government intervention, now all I see today on this page is how it is a private family matter. Well, yes, we Democrats have been saying that for years, and getting shouted down by the conservative right.

I believe and wish Bristol could be left alone, but how can people insist this is not relevant to Sarah Palin as a candidate, with her positions on Abstinence Only and wanting government to legislate reproductive decisions?

Well, Obama's mom got pregnant at 17 by a married father. It is hard to top that.

See the thing is it's just like you said... they're SARAH PALIN'S positions on abstinence. Not her daughter's. You can teach your kids whatever you want but that doesn't mean they're going to listen. Her daughter is almost a legal adult.

I have three gorgeous girls. Two have chosen abstinence, one hasn't. All three have had s*x education and access to birth control and condoms and HPV vaccine. The one who is sexually active has been with the same guy since early high school (I really like him too) and they plan to be married when they graduate college in two years. The other two have just had bad luck with guys.

I certainly could have stuck my head in the sand and my youngest would probably have been pregnant at 16. And it's not that a baby is a punishment, but that two sixteen year old kids, while physically and hormonally ready for s*x, are not ready to care for a family and I'm not idiot enough to think that being moralistic and tossing Bible verses at kids keeps them abstinent. It certainly didn't work for the Palin family, did it?.

I love all three of my girls and all three have been good students, law abiding citizens and compassionate members of their community. Their happiness is paramount in my life, and letting the Christian Taliban set the agenda in this country surely won't give them a bright future.  Sarah Palin and radicals like her would like to declare all women wards of the state with the rights of incubators from the moment of pregnancy, but seizing control of a woman's body against her wishes is no less slavery for the lack of chains, and I won't stand for it, I don't care how many elections the Christian fascists rig or how many judges they appoint. Anyone who tries to legislate government control over my daughter's reproductive choices will be resisted, and anyone who tries to impose their bronze age values on my family, whether directly or through the intimidation of the state, will meet their maker ahead of schedule.

A Republican admit they are wrong?  What? LOL.  That is  never going to happen.  However, I do agree they need to not take cheap shots at a 17 year old girl who has alot on her plate to deal with already.  However, I can not see any way that the McCain campaign can get around this being a problem (and no I'm not calling the baby a problem)--but I'm sure they'll think of a pretty little spin to put on it.

it is a private issue has you any ideal how many parents out there in the really world which you seem no to notice deal with this issue long before bristol.   she made an error is her choice to keep her baby. not yours or anyone else she is   17 years old an almost an adult by all standards.  furthermore  if you are no old enough to make decisions for yourself then  someone should tell you what to do however, most of us can make those decisions for ourselves and don't need some busy  idiot like you making those decisions.

It isn't relevant to Sarah Palin-it's her daughter sure-but it's not Sarah. Besides, if her daughter chose to hide it and get an abortion then I think you'd have a case.
