MOST OF THE UPS POWER UP ALL THE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WITH THE AC VOLTAGE AND IN CASE THERES A BROWNOUT OR BLACKOUT IT RUNS ON ITS BATTERY. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHERE I LIVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VOLTAGE MAKING A FEW OF MY ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT TO POWER DOWN BUT NOT AS MUCH TO MAKE THE UPS RUN ON ITS BATTERY. I SEE THIS A LOT WITH MY TIVO WHO WILL POWER DOWN EVERY TIME THE LIGHTS BLINKS EVEN THOUGH I HAD IT CONNECTED WITH THE UPS. I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING FOR VOLTAGE REGULATORS, VOLTAGE STABILIZERS AND POWER CONDITIONERS BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE WILL WORK. THATS WHY I THOUGHT THAT IF I GET SOMETHING THAT CAN POWER MY EQUIPMENTS WITH THE BATTERY POWER, IT WONT AFFECT MY EQUIPMENT WHEN THE LIGHTS BLINK. AM I HOPING FOR A MIRACLE OR SOMETHING LIKE THIS DOES EXIST?

  1. If your Tivo was running through the UPS and you had a short duration loss of power ( a few seconds), it should have kept the Tivo working. You may have a bad battery cell. A UPS and associated Battery bank can be sized to provide backup power without AC for as many hours as you have space and money for your particular load. Every UPS should have a specification that includes battery Amp Hours, which is what determines how long it can supply the power necessary to keep your equipment up until power is restored. If any one cell in a series battery bank fails, you have no backup, which is what this sounds like.
