I see alot of the cooling system do more harm than good because they draw power from the XBOX so i want one that uses a seperate power source.

  1. "Is there a XBOX360 cooling system that uses its own power source?"

    Yeah, it's called a table fan :P

  2. I have heard of some people using a basic laptop cooling unit.

Also, if it's possible try not to put your 360 on a flat solid surface.  The heat from the 360 transferred to the surface will just heat the 360 more.   Maybe a wire grate or something to raise it up off the solid surface.  I actually have a couple of supports underneath each side of mine which lifts the unit up about an inch or so.  Helps out quite a bit actually.

biggest thing you can do is to make sure there is plenty of room on all side of the 360 to allow air flow.

  3. a really good one that i use too is from mad catz

  4. I think that is a bit of a myth.

Running a small AC fan takes very little power.  The cell processors inside the xbox or the PS3 suck up a lot of current/power.

A recent study said if you ran the PS3 all the time - it would use over three times the power of a refrigerator and the xBox360 power consumption was not that far behind the PS3. (Think 2 refrigerators worth).

If you are really worried - get a small AC "Clamp Fan" from a drug store for about $15 and have it blow onto/over your xBox to help venting.
