I am 45 years old with doctorate in fisheries and wish to acquire more knowledge...thinking of applying for post doctoral positions. Would like to know whether my age will disqualify me...

  1. The Canadian / American Human Rights Act forbid age discrimination in employment.  Most US PhD's finish in their 30's in the US, so you would be only slightly older than most of them.  I work with plenty of older Post-Doc's in my Lab here, not to mention I know a lot of people starting their PhD's in their 30/40's and finishing at about your age.

It really comes down to what you have to offer the lab.  If you've got what they want for the position, then go for it.
