  1. I've been to Plymouth Hoe as well- in fact, I have many 'comedy' photos of my friends standing in front of road signs stating 'hoe'. Oh the humour of youth.

We stayed in Plymouth for a few days, and got the train down to Paington. I personally really like Paignton, but some people don't. It's like a nicer version of Blackpool- still has a pier and 2p arcade machines, but warmer, with a nice sandy beach.

To be honest, we found that there wasn't much to do in Plymouth itself. There's a big shopping centre and a busy dock, so I guess you could do day trips by ferry

  2. Plymouth itself doesn't really have a beach,  there is Plymouth Hoe which is a big green area right by the coast which has Smeaton Tower lighthouse.  Lots of people go there to look out to sea, sun bathe, fly kites and walk dogs etc.  Other than that it is really just big rocks up to the coast line.  There is Plymouth Lido which is the pool that is filled up with sea water (so freezing in the wrong weather!)  But the views out across the sea are really pretty.

Not really sure what there is to do tourist-wise... I went to uni there so spent most of my time either studying, shopping, or on Plymouth Hoe relaxing!..  There is the Sealife Aquarium which I love and really think is worth a visit.  There is also the barbican which is very pretty and has a few good pubs and fish and chip shops!

Otherwise Dartmoor isn't too far away if you fancy more walking away from the coastline.

Hope you have a lovely time :)
