Is there a better place than junkyard for my 1993 mazda protege?

It has over 190,000 miles on it. It runs well but have problem passing SMOG tests. Passenger door key hole was damaged when somebody broke in.

Bay Area AQMD only takes 1987 or older cars in their vehicle buy back program. Cash for junk cars offers $245. I don't think the car is ready for junkyard though. Donating to non-profit might be burdensome because it has problem passing smog. Any better ideas?

  1. Donating it to a non profit wont be burdensome, they get that stuff done no problem. Smog is not an issue really, they take cars working or not. Most non-profits take the car, auction it off, and use that money for there organization, and you get a tax receipt so you can claim it on your taxes. So SMOG won't be an issue, donate it to a non-profit, use it for some good! =) We just donated an old minivan to the childrens hospital.
