Than this?

  1. It sickens me. . . The only way to stop this nonsense is by imposing major laws the world over.  This is why we have the UN.  ALL forests are endangered in this day and age, and I think we need to take action immediately. . . there is substainable sources of wood, such as staged tree farms, bamboo, and many other eco friendly inventions, such as, steel and recycled plastics lumber (which lasts for approx 500 years).  People should also take care of our antique furnishings and keep them also.  Every solid wood piece of furniture I find anywhere (garage sales, Salvation Army, etc), I pick up and keep or give as gifts to others. . . It is the only acceptable way for me to own anything wooden :)

Great question. . . upsetting links though (but that is what people need to see to take action :)

Addendum:  I also salvage lumber and other materials from perfectly fine houses that people waste and tear down all over the place.  This has saved me thousands of dollars just this past year alone :)

  2. Bella, Bella, Bella, you know there is.

  3. I agree answerer above, but I also think Deep Ecology offers a lot of answers too. If we start off thinking in deeply ecological way, then we wouldn't have to think about how to protect Endangered Forests or anything else. We would do it automatically.

  4. thats a very good approach; identify the vulnerable areas, then the local actors, and use carrot and stick to change the relationship. its systems thinking; identify the critical leverage points at which to intervene.

  5. I didn't stay on the first site long, but my red flag went up.  It looks good on the surface, but I suspect it's not quite as good a deal as they say.

Second site too heavyhanded for me.  I don't like feeling manipulated like that, even if what they say is true.  I also have a problem with them singling out a particular company like that.  Better to say, I believe, here's a stellar company and product, and then tell you why, and in doing so it's fair to compare against Dove and the practices Greenpeace feels are offensive.

Yes, I think there's a better way.  Now on to part 2!

  6. We can reduce our consumption of paper and cardboard. Also, use recycled wood to build with. And plant trees. All plant life is cumulative.
