  1. The clock speed

  2. yes a bunch but it really depends on what kind of processor an Intel yes its a big deal AMD its less so because it has hyper-transport. If your going for efficiency then AMD is your processor if your going for performance then Intel. if your a home user look for an AMD they are cheaper and allot more solid and protected than Intels its like comparing different materials Intel is like plastic its faster but more susceptible to braking. AMD is like a piece of steal its not as fast but it can move and you can club someone with it and it wont brake. Intel had some like 300 problems with the Conroe core but it was later resolved.

  3. It really depends on your use for the computer, and what operating system you are using.   Like the other mentioned, there are other factors, in determining a computer's speed, besides the processor speed; type of ram and how much ram you have, bus speed, hard drive speed etc.  If the cost difference is small go with the 2.4 GHz, if there is a significant difference in cost, than it depends on your needs.  If you plan on doing video and picture editing go with the 2.4 GHz, if you just want to surf the net, do small word processing files, etc, go with the 2.1 GHz.

If you are going to use Vista, than go with the 2.4 GHz, no matter what your intentions are for the computer, Vista is a hog and requires everything you can afford.

  4. 300 MHz of clock speed. if it is a dual core processor and you dont do any cpu intensive activities then you shouldn't notice a difference.

  5. If there's a significant price gulf, don't fret it. If there's even a 10% speed differential in CPU bound tasks, I would be surprised. Just as important as clock speed is architecture. Newer Penryn chips use less power and throw off less heat, both important attributes in a laptop CPU.

  6. There will be a little speed difference with 2.4GHz, but it would be un-noticable.

If you are buying a PC, remember that the speed is not the only thing. If the 2.4GHz is from AMD (Turion  64x2) and the 2.1GHz is from Intel (Core 2 Duo), then the Intel will be faster.

I would recommend Intel at any day.
