Question:

Is there a big difference in quality and build between a refurbished DVD recorder and one purchased brand new?

Having done some research I see refurbished decks are significantly cheaper, though I’d happily pay more for reliability.

However, does a refurbished DVD recorder still provide the same level or reliability as a new one? And would I get a warranty with a refurbished deck as well?

Basically, what are the pros and cons of buying a refurbished deck as opposed to a new one apart from the difference in price?

Thanks.

  1. Most reputable companies that sell refurbished electronics will offer a 12 month warranty with them.  Some may even offer longer warranties, if the manufacturers is longer than 12 months.

I have bought refurbs in the past, with no problems.  Just make sure you know who you are buying from.
