I have a Sony DVD Home Theatre System and I am using the normal Yellow video cable. Would the picture look any different if I used Component Cables and Progressive Scan? I have a 720p LCD TV. Can anyone give me some info about this stuff because I dont know how to take full advatage of my HDTV and Home Theatre System? Thanks :)

  1. Short answer is yes, and it won't cost you more than $10 for a 6 foot cable from monoprice.com (or firefold.com / datapro.net), so buy one! http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdep...

I think there's a clear jump in quality from composite to component, but there should NOT be much difference between component and DVI / HDMI. However, sometimes either analog or digital will produce better results (no, digital is not always better). If your dvd player and tv both support digital connections, you might want to buy both types of cables from monoprice and compare them yourself. I'm sure that you'll be happy with component though.

i would not buy the insanely priced monster cables at bestbuy, or ever ask the workers there for advice, as they will try to push expensive cables on you.
