Is there a big event taking place in Barcelona around June 20, 2007 that would be filling all hotel rooms?

Don't know what will be going on but if you want to stay, you'd better hurry up because there're events all around the year and it's not easy to find a place. If you like contemporany architecture I recommend you "Hotel Diagonal" next to the Agbar Tower and the "B Hotel" next to plaza España, both are pretty new and I'm looking forward to visiting them. If you want to receive the best attention you should try the hotel "Juan Carlos I" or the "Hotel Arts".

If your searching on sites like expedia, orbitz, etc. it may just be too early for hotels to have confirmed rooms with them.  This early out I recommend making reservations directly with hotels, otherwise, got me.
