I'm most likely buying the rome 2008 Crail size 147&I have realized it's a men's board &now I'm reconsidering. I searched it on the Rome website, but they didn't give me the exact weight for each board.

Thanks, Greatly appreciated.

  1. There will be a lot better selection of board sizes and weight ranges in the women's boards - unless you weigh over 180 I would suggest looking at womens boards. Plus, there are always a lot of women's boards on clearance every year from the previous season and you will typically be able to get a great deal ($150 - $200!)

Rome is a great brand, also look at Ride and K2:

    Good Luck

  2. There is no weight difference unless you try and get a big board or you just want a heaver board!

  3. there is no wait difference unless its just like a heavy board its self but it has nothing to do with it being a male or female board but don't be worring about wait boarding i ride park and dont even bother checking

  4. I would go with the men's board. I have a k2 darkstar (a men's board) and LOVE it! Generally, girl boards are more gooshy while men boards are more stiff. And I think for that reason, many professional women are riding mens boards. The only positive thing i know about gooshy boards are that they are easy to learn on. And no, There isn't a significant difference in weight between men's and women's boards.

  5. A woman's board tends to be lighter with a slightly thinner core (plus the weight ranges per size are not the same). This is mostly due to the fact that the average woman is not going to be as heavy as a guy or put as much pressure on the board when turning.

This is why you see companies like K2 (others do it also like Rome, but using K2 as an example will be faster) make their boards with a woman's specific core. K2 calls it the 'Rhythm Core' and it's nothing like what's inside a guys board and is in fact not as heavy.

So yes, men's boards will be a little bit more heavy and the flex is going to be way stiffer for you. Some companies put a ton of R&D into making really good boards for girls, don't waste your time looking in the guys section.

  6. No there really is no weight difference. It all depends on the size of the board too. The only real difference is the graphics. Some of them would be more a lighter softer color.
