Religion (as a study, and not a specific as a whole), Teaching, Counseling?

  1. Well yes you could teach religious education in a school, counselling isnt really a religion based occupation. It might help you to understand people a little better but you wouldn't be able to base your whole education on religion to be a good councellor. Religious studies can be the base of any good career but you'd probabily need something else to back it up with. Even to be a teacher of religion you'd need a bit more of a diverse education!


  2. A chaplin/spiritual care in a hospital. This role is very multi-purpose as you need to be aware of a very wide range of religions, customs, philosophies, belief systems, etc. and apply this knowledge in different ways. You deal with patients and their friends/families -- everything from counseling related to illness, death/dying, trauma, etc to teaching students and staff. There is opportunity for research in this position as well. You would meet a lot of different people on a daily basis and be a part of each patient's care team.
