  1. I wash mine in hot water, to get them super clean. Then, I dry them in the dryer on low for about 15 minutes and hang them up to dry the rest of the way, to preserve the rubber backing.

  2. I want to emphasize the don't put them in the dryer part.  Your dryer...entire laundry room for that matter...will smell like rubber for a long time.  That means when you put your jeans or bed sheets in the dryer, they will come out smelling like rubber.  Bad idea.

  3. The ones with rubber non-skid backing should ALWAYS washed in cold on gentle cycle, and NEVER EVER dried.  Hang them over a rail or on a hanger or clothes line to dry, rubber-side down to avoid sun-damage.

  4. I always buy the 100% cotton ones that are like ultra-thick towels. They are more expensive, but last forever and I can wash them in hot water and bleach if I need to.

  5. Most of them can be tossed in the washer and dryer, though if they have rubber backing it eventually deteriorates and will come off in the wash and make an awful mess.
