Is there a certain kind of CD player for cars?

Hi I recently purchased a chevrolet cavalier and the radio doesnt work. Is there a certain kind of CD player I need to buy or can I go to target and buy one?

no u can get any radio u want for it trust me i have a cavalier and put a aftermarket radio in it. if it is a basic aftermarket radio that is smaller than the standard one then u will need to put a spacer or car kit in with it. if u buy one and have some one install it for u then u wont have to worry about it. so yea u can buy just about any radio for it. if u do though i would reccomend buying aftermarket speakers so the radio will sound better.

no u can get almost any aftermarket radio but you will need a wiring kit and a mounting kit for it but u can easily do it urself

Best Buy, Circuit City, and Crutchfield as mentioned before are all good places to find what you need but you can't get anything if you dont know what you are looking for. It is most likely a single DIN radio which is the most standard size. You will need the wirring harness and a little experience with soldering. You have to look up the wirring diagram for your car online so you know which wires need to solder to what. The harness will come with pretty simple instructions that you can easily follow if you get the wirring for your car first. There are many websites that have color codes for the radio wirring in cars. You need to find a site and find your car. Other than that you should be okay. Installing radios is easy if you follow the instructions and maybe ask for a little help if you get stuck.
