  2. Use pictures with words, do a lot of pointing and gesturing as you speak Spanish...watch Dora the Explorer for fun  :) go to the library and get those tapes and workbooks that teach Spanish and do the excercises together..make it fun!

  3. The thing here is that you are not teaching a class - when you go out, tell him things in Spanish - make it fun, make it light - a joke about "yo queiro taco bell" or some such dropped in to lighten things up.

Rewards are always useful [example: give him a kiss when he remembers the word for kiss, etc]. Never embarrass or ridicule no matter how bad he sounds, or he'll be looking to speak French or Italian...gentle corrections are usually ok. Good luck!

  4. well, the best way to teach anyone a language is dive them right into it. if he's really determined to learn it, he needs to get out of his comfort zone. he must understand that he will be uncomfortable at times, but thts okay. its all about learning the language.

i would start with cognates. this will show him the close connection that english and spanish have. here's a helpful website for that. http://www.latinamericalinks.com/spanish...

then, he must understand verb tenses and how many there are. that's a difficult part, but with work, he'll understand. http://www.intro2spanish.com/intro/intro...

once he has the basics, the best thing to do is take him somewhere where spanish is primarly spoken. he needs to know that spanish is his only option, and yes, it will feel uncomfortable, but in the long run, it will help him learn it. travel to another country. do something that really brings him into the language.

and everyday, teach him one new word. that will help build him a strong vocabulary =]

  5. if he gets a few words right, reward him with a ********. he'll be speaking any language you want in no time.
