  1. If it sinks when he gets on it, He's a little too heavy.

  2. If it is your child I would say at 4 years of age would be cool at idel speed.

The oder children can take a little more of a joy ride dont' you think so and it would be more safe that way!

On the river remember this, she has no mercy for you or anybody with or wothout a life jacket on. She is the most destructive body of water that really loves to take life.

  3. There is no real weight limit for riding on a flotation tube because you are not really suppose to tow a flotation tube behind a boat.  However, I would agree with Eric in that as long as the child is small enough to be safely held up by the tube and you go at only low speeds, you should be fine.

However, if this is for older children you really should look at getting a real tube that is designed to be pulled behind a boat.   This is for severaly reasons:

    1) they are safer for the rider (no ropes or hard handles that can catch or injure a rider),

    2) they are designed to be towed, so they have heavy duty fasteners and a reinforced underneath (which is also more hydrodynamic),

    3) Because of their design they do not create a large amount of drag, which makes it easier on the boat to pull them.

If you have a proper tube for tubing their should be a weight limit on the box or tube itself.   If there is not, just use your judgement and just make sure that the tube stays afloat so that it does not create too much drag on the boat.

In all of the cases the most important thing to remember is to have the child wear a properly fitted, USCG approved life jacket.

  4. Check the box or the instructions that came with the tube. If you can't find it, go online and look up the manufacturer. See if their website has it. If not, use your best judgement. If you don't own the tube, once again, use your best judgement. If you don't own the tube, ask the owner.

  5. I am 190 and I ride one
