Is there a chance that softball could be back because. ?

Well. the japanese beat team USA in the gold medal round so do they think now USA is defeated and it wasnt extra innings. even though USA didnt have their best game leaving so many runners on 2 times bases loaded the japanese won 3-1 . do you think it'll be back next year because of the japanese win ? what do you think of softball not going to be in the olympics

it's definitely out in the 2012 games...

after these games, i would think there may be a pretty good chance. from what i've taken from the reports...the main reason it was taken out is not because people don't watch or even money...it was taken out because of the us' dominance. now that the us has lost(in such a dramatic fashion)...it gives it a better push to be reinstated in the 2016 games.

i think when it comes back it will be alot better because there will be so many new faces and it will give other countries even more time to develop their teams.

...and yes the usa missed sooooo many opportunities. congrats to japan though...they played hard.

No softball won't be back in the next olympics. It doesn't generate enough interest outside of the US and Japan. Nobody watches it.

I think the olympic committee just doesn't want to have to provide a venue for baseball/softball.  It's expensive if they don't have it include other sports.

the US domination may make it all sound more athlete related, but I think the bottom line is $$$$.

Yeah, US didn't captalize on base running.  the coach should have entered a pinch hitter for the girl batting .200!

It has already been decided that it definately will not be at the 2012  Olympics, but apparently there is a possibility that it may be considered to be put back in for 2016.

I would certainly hope so - I find it ridiculous that people say it shouldn't be in because there's not enough countries playing, and that there is not enough appeal for everyone. There are other sports in Olympics that aren't played by heaps of countries. Also, tell me why is BMX riding in the Olympics and yet we see Softball removed ??

It has nothing to do with the US other than the fact that Softball and Baseball are mainly American sports...

There really isn't any worldwide interest in the game....

I think Basketball will eventually go that way too......

i think maybe its to time consuming,but soccer is a long game also so i dunno what the deal was.yeah seeing as japan won maybe they should change there minds and let it back in 2016.i think for sure its out in 2012.
