Is there a cheap way to power lights outside (with out a generator)?

hello, i would like to do a temporary light installtion out side for just one evening , using around 200 LEDs or 5 ultra violet strip lights and i wonder if anyone knows a cheap way of powering them... would a car battery or some thing work?????????????? thanks ...Livvy*

  1. Hi intensity leds are the answer. The car battery will work but you will need to regulate the voltage to2.5 to 3 volts. This can be done with a simple transistor voltage regulator at radioshack. Follow the diagram on the package. Once you obtain the right voltage, wire all leds in parallel


  2. a car battery and a small inverter.  The inverter cost $30 and use the battery from your car.  An extension cord, $10.

    could Incorporated. these could also be recharged from small,inexpensive photovoltaic pannels.

    using the solar charging aproach, you could maintain a deep cycle

    storage battery that would power all of the leds.

    this would be a little more pricy.
